Installation sites selection for small wind turbines

The installation site of small wind turbines is very important for power generation and safe operation. The following introduction is for reference:

A good installation site should have two basic requirements: higher average wind speed and weaker turbulence.

(1) The higher the average wind speed, the greater the output power and power generation of small wind turbine.

The energy of wind is proportional to the third power of wind speed. For example, the wind energy of 5m/s wind speed is about twice that of 4m/s.

(2) The air flow at the installation site of small wind turbines is unstable and turbulent, so the small wind turbine fans will suffer a lot of damage, which is not conducive to the safe operation of small wind turbines all the year round, and the turbulence will greatly reduce the power generation.

The tower of the fan shall be as high as possible, because the higher it is from the ground, the greater the wind speed, and the more stable the air flow.

In flat areas, the recommended installation height of small post power generator shall not be less than 6m. Trees and all kinds of buildings will form obstacles to the air flow. The air flow will form a slow and turbulent area in front of and behind these obstacles. It should be avoided to install fans in such areas. The tower height shall be at least 2m higher than the highest obstacle within 100m.
